Previewing this weekend's showcase
by Transition Hoops Report
This weekend in southern Idaho, the first Showcase of the fall is going to feature the top players and some of the top coaches in the northwest.
We start with a look at this weekend's coaching staff, which is going to be second to none. Here are just a few of the coaches that will be hands on working with players this weekend.
Colby Blaine - Associate Head Coach at the College of Idaho.
Jeff Johnson - Assistant Coach at the College of Southern Idaho.
Kevin Attila - Assistant Coach at Eastern Oregon University. Coach Attila is also a former player at the College of Southern Idaho before moving on to Hawaii-Hilo and then Eastern Oregon.
Montigo Alford - Played at Boise State University.
Rob Heyer - Played at Boise State University and then professionally in New Zealand.
Sydney Donaldson - Played at the College of Idaho and then professionally in Europe.
Rob Comer - Assistant Coach at Eagle High School. Played at Walla Walla and then Lewis Clark State College. Now recruits for Walla Wall.
As of this posting, there are more than 25 different high schools that will be represented with players coming from north Idaho, southern Idaho, eastern Idaho and Montana. The age spread looks very even from freshmen to seniors.
Senior players that attended last year are now playing for several of the schools that came and watched last year.
You may have already seen this but in case you missed it, here is a list of colleges that have committed to attending the event. A few of them will also be guest speakers.
- College of Idaho
- Northwest Nazarene University
- College of Southern Idaho
- Eastern Oregon University
- Lewis Clark State College
- Treasure Valley Community College
- Pierce College
- Whitman College
This Showcase is about more than just playing 5 on 5 games, though we are going to be doing a lot of that.
Our goal is to establish the total evaluation of a player while educating them. This is why we include things like the NBA style combine testing, hosted by Off the Field. Or why we host a Recruiting 101 session and bring in guest speakers. And why we bring in the best coaches available to teach and work with our athletes.
Best Value of the Fall
Clearly we're proud of the showcase we've put together for the weekend. But when you dive in to what a player is going to get, you can easily see the value of attending.
High level instruction.
A chance to play in front of college coaches.
