Eagle (ID) gets big win against defending champs
by Transition Hoops Report
From Eagle High School in Eagle, Idaho
Eagle came out hot early and then hung on to beat the Idaho 5A defending state champion Capital High School at home.
Eagle got off to a great start behind the 3-point shooting of Kaine Vieira (6'1 SG 2015) , who finished with 17 points. Vieira had struggled from behind the line early this season but his teammates found him open early and he capitalized.
Luke Lenhardt (6'4 SF 2015) was back in action after missing several games from a shoulder injury. He definitely looked a little rusty but fought hard and made some important plays.
Also making some timely plays was Zac Furgerson (6'4 PF 2016), who grabbed some extra possessions for Eagle and also knocked down a key 3-pointer in the second half.
For Capital, Derrick White (6'1 PG 2015) was the most notable. Down by double digits in the second half, White's aggressive play on defense led to some transition baskets that kept Capital in it. He was suffering from leg cramps near the end which definitely affected his play.
