Player Notes Around the Northwest

The prep season has started to gain some steam as a number of players look to have an early impact for their respective teams. These News and Notes are the first of the year so they cover a lot of ground up to box scores through this past Tuesday night. 

It may be a new season, but there are several players already back to their old ways. There were several 30+ point performances and the biggest came from Northwestern commit Isiah Brown. But others are keeping their names in the mix, especially one player that put up 31 points and 10 boards in a big win. Read on to see who did what.

Montana

Darby’s Zach McCrossin knocked down six 3-pointers and finished with 38 points to lead his team to their second win at the Tip-Off Tournament.

Plains’ Ryan Ovitt  had 25 points in their win over Seeley-Swan.

Hot Springs’ Trevor Paro enjoyed yet anotherimpressive game for the Savage Heat with 29 points in a loss to Valley Christian. Paro also scored 38 points in Hot Springs' rout of Drummond prior to their matchup with Valley Christian.

Noxon’s Grant Fitchett scored 36 points as his team knocked off Lincoln for its first win in its last 30 tries. Riley Fisher also contributed five points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists for Noxon in the win.

Nashua’s Lane Nickels scored 30 points to propel his team past Turner.

CJ Nelson dropped 29 points in Scobey’s win over Plentywood.

Utah

Jake Hendricks had 27 points and 8 rebounds, while Byrce Mortensen scored 14 points and added 10 rebounds in Sky View’s win over Orem.

Bonneville’s Noah Atagi had a double-double 12 points, 12 rebounds in his team’s loss to Weber.

Mountain Crest’s Jaxon Brenchley had an excellent all-around game with 25 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists as his team took down Layton.

Viewmont’s Cole Huish scored 31 points in a loss to Lone Peak.

Ogden’s Hunter Clarke scored 29 points in his team’s two point victory over South Summit.

Bountiful’s Jon Schmidt recorded 25 points in his team’s win over Payson. Payson’s Koiten Mortensen had 26 points and 10 rebounds in the game.

Oregon

Jesuit’s Malcolm Porter dropped 31 points in a win over Jefferson.

Redmond’s Cody Moss had 32 points in a win over Ontario in nonconference play.

Summit’s Jack Hurley scored 27 points in an OT loss to West Salem.

Washington

University Prep’s Max Gregg added 26 points in their win over Charles Wright Academy.

Bear Creek’s Jordan Block had 32 points of his team’s 64 points in their win over Sultan.

Federal Way’s Ferron Flavors scored 28 points in a win over Columbia River.

Enumclaw’s Josh Erickson chipped in 28 points for a one point victory over White River. 

East Lake’s Ethan Thompson scored 29 points in a 12-point victory over Mount Si who were led by Danny Tomson.

Lakeside’s Isiah Brown dropped 38 points in his team’s win over Ballard. 

Puyallup’s Deven Neff knocked in 28 points in a win over the visiting Nathan Hale.

Tony Miller for Woodinville had 29 points in a win over Interlake.

Kentwood’s Rayvaughn Bolton scored 29 points in a win over Yelm on Sunday. 

Kobee Mendoza led Jefferson past Decatur with 25 points.

Lakes’ Rakeem Hughey notched 28 points to take down Enumclaw.

Wenatchee’s Gavin Long scored 31 points to go with 10 rebounds in a win over Richland. BYU signee Steven Beo scored 27 points in the loss and Richland junior, Tyler Kurtz, had 16 points and 16 rebounds.  

Moses Lake’s Cesar Sandoval had an impressive 35 points in his team’s win against Kennewick.

Kamiakan’s Isaiah Brimmer had 25 points in a win over Hermiston.

Othello’s Trenton Cutforth piled up 28 points in a win over Grandview.

Pullman was led by Jake Cillay who scored 27 points in a close win over Grandview.

Colfax’s Keith Gfeller finished with 30 points and 13 rebounds as his team beat Deer Park.

Idaho

Borah High’s Rylan Bergersen scored 19 points in a close win over Rocky Mountain.

Capital’s Harrison Ashby shined with 22 points and 15 rebounds as the Eagles defeated Nampa. 

George Tarlas tallied a double-double 17 points, 14 rebounds for Caldwell in their win over Parma. 

Nampa Christian’s Payton Brothers had 30 points in his team’s win over Homedale.

Pocatello’s Jaden Brown scored 28 points in a loss to Fremont (UT) in Nonregion action.
