Timberline (ID) and Borah (ID) on to the Idaho State Tourney
by Transition Hoops Report
Boise (ID) vs Timberline (ID)
Timberline upset Boise to make it to the Idaho State tournament. It was a back and forth battle from start to finish but Timberline's Gibson Berryhill and Bryce Gonser made big plays late to bring home the win. Boise was led by Sam Simpson and Alex Rant.
Berryhill was terrific on both sides of the ball. He can always hit the 3 but he showed the ability to get to the rim and finish. Defensively he really got after the ball and in crunchtime he caused a couple turnovers due to his pressure.
Gonser was a physical presence for Timberline. He rebounded hard and finished some tough put backs through contact.
For Boise, Simpson did what he always does which is get double-doubles. He was really active around the rim with put backs, blocked shots, and rebounds. Simpson also runs the floor extremely hard getting easy buckets in transition.
Rant also played well. He made multiple perimeter shots and is very gritty.
Borah (ID) vs Centennial (ID)
Borah got separation mid way through the 2nd quarter and never looked back in a very low scoring game. The game qualified Borah for the Idaho State tournament. They were led by sophomore Rylan Bergersen and Utah signee Isaiah Wright.
Bergersen made some nice interior finishes, drew contact and got to the line, and hit a couple perimeter jump shots.
Wright set up his teammates for open jump shots and played his usual tough defense.
