Capital vs. Eagle
Capital moved into the semi-final round of the 5A Southern Idaho Conference (SIC) tournament and is 21-0 on the season after the win on Tuesday night. Hunter Young and Keegan Hansen led Capital to the win and Riley Leavitt stood out for Eagle.
Hansen got Capital going early, scoring the first 8 points for Capital on a couple 3 pointers and a nice take to the rim. Throughout the game he put constant pressure on Eagle on both ends. He showed a quick first step going to the basket and finished strong. Defensively he was tough and flied around getting deflections and causing turnovers.
Hunter Young heated up in the 2nd half from deep. He moved well without the ball on offense and found open spots for quality looks. And when he was open he can capitalized with range to 23 feet.
For Eagle Riley Leavitt did a nice job of handling pressure and creating space with the ball. He hit some 3’s which opened up space for him to get to 15 feet where he has a really effective mid range game.
Middleton at Nampa
In the 4A SIC, Nampa hosted Middleton, and the winner locks up the #1 seed at the district tournament. JD Schutt and Blaine Roberts led the way for Nampa while Keyshawn Liggins and Jason Maughan kept Middleton close.
Nampa would get the win behind solid performances from JD Schutt and Blaine Roberts. Schutt was hitting from outside and Roberts was finishing around the basket on post ups and dribble penetration.
For Middleton, Jason Maughan showed off his range with multiple 3-pointers. Keyshawn Liggins was athletic and at his best when he could catch, square up, size up the defense and attack.
