Tyler Brimhall is on fire; northwest players shine

Welcome to the last News and Notes of 2014! As usual, we've included the top highlights from the past week. And, as usual, if we've left someone off be sure to add them in the comments section. This weekend we head to the Portland area for some holiday tournaments, including the Les Schwab Invitational (LSI). The LSI is one of the best holiday tournaments in the Northwest and worth checking out if you can. If you can't we've got you covered.

Oregon

Lake Oswego’s Jazz Johnson had a couple of big games, scoring 27 in a win against Enterprise (CA) and scoring 29 in a loss to South Medford.

David Douglas’s Charles Jones scored 29 points in a win against Sunset.

McNary’s Craig Peterson scored 33 in a win over Forest Grove.

Barlow’s Parker Jonus scored 30 and teammate Dominik Copper added 26 points in a win over Aloha.

Oregon City’s Austin DeWitz scored 25 points in a win over Roosevelt.

Mountain View’s Davis Holly scored 30 points on five 3 points in a loss to Cresent Valley.

Bend’s JJ Spitler scored 30 points in a win against Cresent Valley. CV was led by Joe Casey’s 24 points.

Gresham’s Brody Bohver scored 26 points in a win over Redmond.

Dayton’s Zach Bernards scored 30 and DJ Flowers added 24 in a win over Yamhill- Carlton.

Washington

JaQuori McLaughlin scored 26 points in a Pennisula win over Enumclaw.

Dominic Green scored 31 points and had 11 rebounds to lead Hazen past Renton.

In great head to head match up, Isiah Brown scored 35 points for Lakeside vs. Rainier Beach. But DeJounte Murray's 29 points and 13 boards led Beach to the win. Following that game, Brown scored 36 in a win over Stadium while teammate Daejon Davis scored 30. 

Steven Beo scored 21 points (15 in the fourth quarter) and had 10 rebounds in a Richland loss to Walla Walla. 

Garfield's Jaylen Nowell had an efficient 34 points on 12 of 18 shooting in a win over Franklin.

Rob Miller with another 30 point perforance, this time with 31 over Kelso. That is his fourth 30 point game of the year. He is averagine 25.6 ppg through his first 7 games. 

David Jenkins has reportedly received an offer from Montana. 

Kendall Watson had a triple-double in a Hanford win last Saturday. He scored 27 points to go with 10 boards and 10 assists. David Torres scored 32 for Chiawanna in the loss. The night before Torres had scored 31. 

Ronnie Roberson had another 30 point outburst, this time with 35 for Foster in a win over Seattle Christian.

Match Burnham scored 30 and also grabbed 10 boards to lead Liberty past St. George's. 

Tyler Axtell scored 27 points combined with 5 rebounds and 6 assists as Riverside beat Freeman. 

Prescott Day led Ballard with 26 points to defeat Chief Sealth. 

Drew Magaoay led Shorecrest to a win over Shorewood with 28 points. 

Collin Kane scored 35 and grabbed 10 boards in a Snohomish win over Mariner.

Giovanni Jackson had a couple of nice games for Beamer. He scored 28 over Jefferson and then had 30 in a win over Franklin.

Kevin Carpenter scored 35 for Redmond as they nearly pulled an upset over Issaquah. Then in another close loss to Bothell he scored 24. 

Tony Miller had a nice double double for Woodinville with 24 points and 10 rebounds in a win over Skyline.

Brandon Cotton scored 26 for Franklin Pierce in a win over Fife.

Cardell Jones scored 29 points with 9 rebounds and 5 assists to lead Prosser past Selah.

Spencer Matt led University to a win over Central Valley with 24 points and 10 rebounds. 

Utah

Ben Lomond’s Brenden Morris had 25 points and grabbed 16 rebounds in a win over Rockwell.

Davis’s Jesse Wade scored 44 points with nine 3 pointers in a win over Moreau Catholic (CA).

Layton’s Jarriesse Blackmon scored 29 points in a win over Taylorsville.

Logan’s Tyler Brimhall had a couple big games this week. He scored 27 in a win over Mayfair (CA) and 26 in a loss against Bingham. In both games he hit five 3 pointers.

Syracuse’s Kalvin Mudrow scored 13 points, grabbed 15 rebounds, and had 9 assists in a win against West.

Idaho

Stefan Gonzalez scored 31 points, had 10 rebounds and 4 assists in a Highland win over Bonneville. He also scored 25 in a win over Sky View (UT).

In a close loss to Hillcrest, Shelley's Carter Cannon scored a career high 31 points.

Tony Naccarato scored 29 points with 9 rebounds and Joey Naccarato scored 25 in a Coeur d' Alene win over Flathead (MT).

Montana

Havre’s Dane Warp scored 33 in an overtime win over Livingston.

Frenchtown’s Bridger Truett scored 28 points in a loss to Columbia Falls.

Miles City’s Gavin Gundlach scored 32 points in a win over Hardin. Hardin was led by Oliver Wallace’s 30 points.

Sentinel’s Zaccheus Darko- Kelly scored 23 in a win over Corvallis, who was led by Jayce Gilder’s 21 and Jesse Sims 20 points.

Hellgates’s Tres Tinkle had 24 points in a win over Great Falls. GF was led by Brendan Howard’s 25 points.
