Leavitt, Lenhardt Lead Way For Eagle (ID)

by Transition Hoops Report

Eagle High School (ID) opened their season with a win at Bishop Kelly (ID). It was obvious it was the first game of the year for both teams and the adjustment to the much tighter hand checking/ no touching rule was difficult for both teams. It was very hard for either team to get into a flow with 57 combined fouls.

The length and size of Eagle was the difference maker. Riley Leavitt (6’3 PG 2015) got double digit deflections jumping passing lanes, tipping passes, and being active in helpside defense. Offensively his mid range game was effective and when he attacked he was rewarded with free throws.

Luke Lenhardt (6’4 PF 2015) chalked up a nice double double. He had multiple offensive put backs, strong takes to the basket, and knocked down a 3.

Zac Furgerson (6’4 PF 2016) also was really effective on the glass and showed a soft touch on his jumper beyond the arc hitting a couple 3s.

Talmage Clark (6’6 PF 2016) did a nice job of rebounding out of his range and knocking down a 3.

Bishop Kelly was led by Michael Martinez’s (6’0 PG 2016) ability to hit the floater and get to the line when he attacked. David Poulsen’s (6’2 PF 2015) mid range jumper and finishes around the rim also looked good.
