Best High School Duos and Trios

by Transition Hoops Report

In most of the northwest high school games are underway or about to start. We break down some of the top duos and trios of high school teammates in the northwest. To see where they have committed or where they have offers, click on their names.

Top High School Duos and Trios

Bellevue HS, WA - Gunther Klimes (6'6 PF 2015)/ Kyle Foreman (6'1 PG 2015)/ Michael Henn (6'6 PF 2016) - will battle for a deep run towards a state title thanks to this high level trio and a very deep bench at Bellevue.

Bountiful HS, UT - Zac Seljaas (6'7 SF 2015)/ Jeff Pollard (6'9 C 2015) - the inside/ outside threat of these two will be hard to stop. They might be able to push Bountiful over the top to win the Utah State Championship in 2015.

Eastside Catholic, WA - Matisse Thybulle (6'7 SF 2015)/ Mandrell Worthy (6'3 PG 2015) - EC made a nice run last season, and with the emergence of Thybulle they will contend once again. Also, keep on eye on Worthy, who will get to run the point, a position he says he is comfortable with and looking forward to.

Federal Way, WA - Vionte Daniels (6'2 SG 2015)/ Malik Montoya (6'2 PG 2015) - veteran guards that can get to the rim and fill it up from 3. Federal Way will be a tough matchup for any back court in Washington.

Garfield HS, WA - Alphonso Anderson (6'5 PF 2016)/ Jaylen Nowell (6'3 SG 2017)/ Jashaun Agosto (5'8 PG 2016) - The defending 4A state champs were already considered a favorite to repeat this year. But the transfer in to the program of Alphonso Anderson makes them scary. The backcourt is athletic and potent on offense and now their inside presence could be a force.

Great Falls HS, MT - Brendan Howard (6'4 PF 2017)/ Matt Wyman (6'5 PG 2015)/ Lucas Vining (6'2 SG 2015) - made a late run to the Montana State tourney last season with a very young team. This season they expect to battle for a high finish or even state championship.

Hellgate HS, MT - Tres Tinkle (6'7 SF 2015)/ Rhett Baerlocher (6'3 SG 2015) - won AA State Championship in Montana in 2013 and was runner up in 2014. Hellgate is poised to return to the championship game for a 3rd straight season.

Highland HS, ID - Stefan Gonzalez (6'1 PG 2015)/ Connor Harding (6'5 SF 2016) - have unfinished business this year after losing in the first round of the Idaho State Championship last season. They lead the most talented roster in the state.

Issaquah HS, WA - Ty Gibson (6'3 PG 2015)/ Trevon Ary-Turner (6'2 PG 2017)/ Jason Crandall (5'11 PG 2016) - This backcourt is a nice balance of heady play and sharp shooting. Issaquah's guard play will allow them to battle for the state championship.

Jefferson HS, OR - Kadeem Strickland (5'9 PG 2015)/ Greyson Smallwood (6'11 C 2015)/ Isaiah Robinson (6'9 C 2015) - Jefferson has moved up to the 6A Oregon classification and they will need solid seasons from all three of these guys to compete with West Linn. While Strickland is a known strong point guard and Smallwood has shown spurts of potential, the most interesting factor may be Robinson, who showed a lot of improvement this summer.

Lakeside HS, WA - Isiah Brown (6'1 PG 2016)/ Daejon Davis (6'3 SG 2017) - not only one of the most talented back courts but one of the youngest in the northwest. Look out for Lakeside to make a run this season and next.

Rainier Beach HS, WA - DeJounte Murray (6'5 SG 2015)/ Keith Smith Jr (6'5 PG 2016) - The defending state champions are loaded again this year, led by high majors Murray and Smith. Their size and athleticism create lopsided mismatches for nearly every in state team they will face. If things go well, this could be their fourth straight state title in Washington's second biggest classification.

West Linn HS, OR - Anthony Mathis (6'2 SG 2015)/ Payton Pritchard (6'1 PG 2016) - Mathis and Pritchard will attempt to make it three straight state titles in Oregon's largest classification. Chemistry with these two shouldn't be an issue as they play spring and summer ball together. Additionally, this summer, as Pritchard was showcasing his talent at various individual camps, Mathis showed that he is great on his own as well. When they put the West Linn jerseys on they are tough to stop.

Honorable mention

Billings West HS, MT - Jared Samuelson (6'7 PF 2015)/ Danny Betcher (6'9 PF 2015)

Central Catholic HS, OR - Deante Strickland (5'9 PG 2015)/ Lamar Winston (6'3 SF 2016)

Clarkston HS, WA - Tre'von Allen (6'2 PG 2016/ CJ Johnson (6'4 SF 2015)

Davis HS, WA - Nihkil Lizotte (5'8 PG 2015)/ Max Jones (6'3 SG 2015)

Peninsula HS, WA - JaQuori McLaughlin (6'3 PG 2016)/ Jimmy Ritchie (6'7 C 2016)

Skyview HS, UT - Jake Hendricks (6'4 SF 2016)/ Bryce Mortenson (6'6 PF 2016)

South Salem HS, OR - Seth Erickson (6'3 SG 2015)/ Jack Frazier (6'1 PG 2015)

Todd Beamer HS, WA - Jalen McDaniels (6'7 SF 2016)/ Charles Frazier (6'5 PF 2015)
